Support & FAQ

Everything you need to know about casting your local photos.

Connection & Setup

Do my photos go to the cloud?

No. PictaCast is a 100% local photo casting web app. We utilize modern browser APIs to access your selected local folder and stream it directly over your local Wi-Fi network to your TV.

My TV says "No cast devices found".

Ensure your computer and your Chromecast or Smart TV are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network. If they are, try restarting your browser or restarting the casting device. Also ensure you are using a Chromium-based browser (Chrome or Edge).

Which browsers are supported?

PictaCast uses the Web Presentation API (Cast SDK), which currently requires a Chromium-based browser — Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Firefox and Safari do not support this API.

Does this work completely offline?

While your photos stay local, your Chromecast device requires a basic internet connection to load the PictaCast "receiver" interface before it can start accepting the local stream from your PC.

Does PictaCast support portrait or rotated TVs?

Yes. PictaCast supports screen rotation at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° — perfect for portrait-mounted displays, digital signage, and waiting room setups. You'll find this option under Advanced Settings inside the app.

How do I sign in?

PictaCast uses Google Sign-In — no separate account or password needed. Just click "Continue with Google" and you're in. Your slideshow settings sync automatically across all your devices.

Licensing & Billing

How does the Lifetime License work?

You pay a one-time fee of $39.99, and the app is tied to your login forever. No subscription fees ever again. All future updates are included at no extra cost.

What is the Event Pass?

The Event Pass is a 5-day unlimited-use pass for $4.99. It's designed for people who need PictaCast for a single event — a wedding, party, or memorial — without committing to a full license.

Can I try PictaCast before purchasing?

Yes. The free tier gives you 10 minutes of casting per day at no cost. Just sign in with your Google account to get started — no separate PictaCast account or credit card required. You can use all display modes and features during the free period.

Can I upgrade my plan later?

Absolutely. You can upgrade from a smaller plan to a larger one at any time. For example, you can start with a 5-Day Event Pass and later upgrade to a Lifetime License. Upgrade options are available right inside the app.
